His father was the Sultan Selim the Second and his mother was Nourbanou Sultana. He was born on the 4th of july, 1546 and died onjanuary the 10th, 1595, and reigned for twenty-one years.
Sultan Murad the Third was of medium height, roundish faced, light-brown bearded, grayish-blue eyed and white fleshed. He was very generous and liked to help everybody.

The agreement with the Venetian was renewed. After the battle with. Portugal, the Portuguese powers were put to flight. England was aided against Spain. At the end of the warfare with Poland owing to the appointment of the Polish King, the Polish Kingdom was subjected to the Ottomans.
In 1511, the Crimean Khanate, which had been subjected to the Empire, waged war on Russia and subjected the Russian Czardom to taxes having advanced to Moscow.
In 1578, warfares with Iran began anew, and the victory of Childtr was gained: Tiphlis and Shirvan were captured, the whole Persia up to Caspian-Sea was occupied. The defence of Tiphlis, very famous in history, was achieved. A few soldiers in the citadel did not concede the fort till eating cats and dogs. The Citadel of Kars was erected in 27 days.
In 1583, the victories of Meshales (Flambeaus) was gained, and Revan was taken.
In 1585, Tebriz was conquered the fourth time and the city of Gendje was seized on the other hand.
In 1590, the Great Ottoman Empire concluded an agreement with the Persian Kingdom. In 1593, the Empire declared war on Germany.
In 1594, the Yamkkale was seized.
In that period, the Ottoman territories were annexed to 19.902.000 km/s9.s and that was the top level of the expansion of the Ottoman lands in the history of the Great Empire.
Sultan Murad the Third expired on the 16th of January, 1595 at the time when he was only in his 49 s, and he was committed in the yard of the St. Sophia Mosque (May Allah have mercy upon his soul!)
The Mausoleum of Yahia Effendi at Beshiktash was constructed in his time of sultanate; and again, the Fetkhiye Mosque was changed into mosque from its church form by him.
Their Exalted Highnesses Sinan Effendi, who wrote footnotes to the Annotation of Beizavee, Sheikh eftade, Akhee Chelebi, Urianee Mehmed Dede, Lutphi Mustafa Effendi, the writer of an addendum to the Shakaik, and Mouharrem Effendi, the author of a commentary to the Molla Djamee, Shemi Effendi, the expotent of the Gulistan (Garden of Flowers), and Muhammed Vanee Effendi, who prepared the Dictionary of Van-koulou were the most, learned of the time.
His sons' names were Muhammed the Third, Selim, Bajezet, Mustafa, Othman, Djikhangir, Abdoullah. Abd-Ur-Rahnian, Abdoullah, Hassan, Aklimed, Jacoub, Alemshah, Yousouph. Hussein, Korkoud. Ishals. Omar. Ala-ad-Din and DJ‘cud. He had four daughters whose names were A:she Sultana. Fatuna Sultana. Mikhrimakh Sultana and Fakhriye Sultana.
