He was the son of Sultan Mehmed Han and the Sultana Handan. He was born on April the 18th in 1590, and died on November the 22nd,1590 and ruled over the Great Ottoman Empire between 1603 and 161-. for fourteen years.
Sultan Akhmed the First was very zealous and strived hard on Imperial affairs in person. and in this respect, he came after Solyman the Law-giver. He would wear very simply. His decisions, even in his childhood, had always been perfect and judicious: what is more, he was an excellent poet, and he also had a divan including his poems under the pen-name of Bakhtee.
He was extremely religious and even a prominent Veli (Milstem Saint). He had the Sultan Akhmed Mosque, which is with six minarets and fourteen sherefes (external galleries on a minaret). constructed. He was so much faithful to His Exalted Highness Muhammed Mustafa (May Allah commend and salute him!) that he wrote a poem in the picture of his sacred footprints and carried it under his wadded turban till the time of his expiration. Below is the mentioned poem:
I wish I always carried the picture of the holy feet of His Exalted Excellency,
Who is the Exalted Chief of all the prophets, The Rose of the rosary of prophets is the possessor of those holy feet,
0 Ahmeda! Do not hesitate even a moment, and rob your face on the holy feet of that Exalted Rose.
The covers of Kaaba were sent from Islambol to Mecca (till that era, they had been sent from Egypt).
At the time when Sultan Akhmed took power into his hands, the Ottoman forces had been fighting with the rebels inside the country, Persia in the eastern region, and Germany together with its allies in the western district of the Empire. German powers were routed and they had to want peace, and so the Agreement of Zitwatorok was concluded between the two sides. In 1611, the Djelalee Rebellions were subdued completely. Last, the Great Ottoman Empire agreed with Persia in the Mediterranean Sea, and many a naval warfares were gained.
In 1605, the Forts of Estergon and Kanije were seized, and again in the same year, a successful mobilization was accomplished against Austria. The Hungarian King was crowned, and the mobilization against Malta was made by-- sea.
Sultan Akhmed Khan the First passed away in 1617, and was buried into his tomb next to the Sultan Akhmed Mosque (May Allah have mercy upon his soul!)
Their Exalted Hotinesses Mawlana Aliy'yul Kaari, the writer of the Tesaniyf (Works), Sheikh Eboo Abdoullah Mohammad, the exponent of Moughnillebib, the calligrapher Hassan Chelebi of Scutari, and Karadja Akhmed were the great Islamic learned persons of the era of the Sultan Akhmed Khan.
His sons were Othman the Second. Murad the Fourth. Sultan Ibrahim. Bayezid, Suleiman Kamm, Muhammed. Hassan. Selim. Hanzade and Ubeide. His daughters were as follows: Gevkherkhan Sultana. Aishe Sultana, Fatima Sultana. and Alike Sultana.
