SULTAN AHMED THE SECOND

His mother endeavoured wholeheartedly for his having a good education and culture. He was I extremely active and fond of controlling every work by himself. He was very talented of handwriting. He wrote a number of issues of Qur'an personally: He knew Arabic and Persian very well. He was also well-acquainted with Imperial affairs and he took part in meetings of the Chancery of Empire even at the times he was ill.
He was very fond of writing poems and often called and had talk with the famous poets of his time. He let Fazyl Mustafa Pasha continue his viziership. Fazyl Mustafa Pasha passed away in the Salankamen Battle in 1691, The Ottoman forces combatted severely with the Venice in Hania and the Turks gained the victory of Hania in August in 1692.

In 1693, two big fires broke out and five thousand houses burnt up in Istanbul.
The Germans sieged Belgrade in the same year, but they retreated having lost ten thousand soldieri.

On the 21 st of September, the Island of Sakiz was occupied.
Sultan Akhmed the Second passed away at Edirne on the 6 th of February in 1695. His body was brought to Islambol and buried into the mausoleum of Solyman the Great as his brother had been done (May Allah the Everlasting have mercy upon his soul!)

The Sheikh Selamee Ali Effendi, Sheikh Muhammad Niyaziee Misree expired in that era.

He had two sons named Ibrahim and Selim and three daughters whose names were Atike Sultana, Hatidje Sultana and Asiye Sultana.
