SULTAN MUSTAFA THE FOURTH

(1779 - 1808 )

His mother occupied herself with his training and education. He worked calligraphy as the pre', ions Padishahs did. He had pretty good manuscripts. He was among the Sultans who reigned over the Empire for the shortest time after Osman the Young in the Ottoman Dynasty.

Kabakchi Mustafa deposed Selim the Third with the intention of preventing the improvements of Selim the Third getting also benefit from his mercy. Upon this. Mustafa the Fourth was brought to the throne by the mutineers. The rebels gained many important positions in the government. The leaders of the Nizam-i Djidid. which was founded by Selim the Third, gathered around Alemdar Mustafa Pasha who was in Rouschouk. Alemdar Mustafa Pasha came to Stanboul with great forces and killed the rebels,and the death of Selim the Third was informed then. Then he brought Mahmoud the Second to the throne.

During the sultanate of Mustafa the Fourth. the Ottoman-Russian War continued.
Sultan Mustafa the Forth's ruling era was exactly one year and two months. He was made obliged to dwell in a department of the Topkapt Palace. Upon some people.schemed to take Sultan Mahmoud the Second down and put Mustafa the Fourth on the throne, he was killed receiving fetwa from the Ulemas. His body was committed into his father Sultan Abd-iil-Hamid's mausoleum at Bahchekapi (May Allah Have Mercy Upon His Soul!)

He had one daughter named Emine Sultan.
